The painting I reinvented is Boschbrand (Forest Fire, the artist name is Raden Saleh he lived from 1807 to 1880.I learnt that he painted forest fire in 1849 and was made in Indonesia. The material he used was oil paint and a canvas. The image size is 300 x 396 cm. The work has been adopted by Yong Hon Kong Foundation. Raden Saleh is one of the most important 19th century artist from Java. It captures life and death through the vivid depiction of the animals and the dramatic use of light and dark. He also created many other paintings like lion attacking horse, the last resort and deer hunt. What I enjoyed about the painting is that the detail in the image is so concentrated on the expressions on the tigers faces, how he decided the layout of this piece of art really captures the moment.

For my own artwork I chose the number 8 because when it is turned on its side it shows the infinity sign to show that life goes on, it is also my lucky number. For the layout of my painting, I chose to paint the tiger on another piece of cardboard and then to cut it out and layer it onto the background. Later in the process of the piece I decided that the trees would have a mossy finish over them to make them look more realistic. I created texture on the piece by using a stick and hatching the hair lines on the tiger’s body. The reason my piece of work is relevant to me is because firstly I love tigers, they are my favourite animal, and my family spends a lot of time outdoors and love nature, so I tried to amplify it in my piece of work.
