My final painting was a painting of Forest Fire, but I connected it to my time in Australia when the fires were happening. My painting has the wide range of mountains in Australia and then the grey smoke for a background and the black charred trees with small ongoing outbursts of fire. The colour scheme I used was red, orange, yellow, grey and black. For the red I mixed some white paint with a tint of red. For the orange I mixed yellow and red with a dash of white. For the grey I mixed black and white.
For the background I used the grey paint applied with a sponge. My link to the original Forest Fire painting by Raden Salah is the fire and the grey background. I used a big paint brush for the colour blocks in the mountains and for the fire I used the end of a brush. I did use a fine brush for the white lines. The grey had a very dark shade to it, and I layered it for a flat finish. The fire and the trees are in the foreground whereas the mountains are in the background. For the background and the white lines, I made it look very neat whereas the fire and trees look a bit more textured. I need to improve the white lines and the fire. I think that my mountains went well. I enjoyed the contrast about forest fire. It was fun to make with all the different colours.
