This painting is Forest fire by Italian renaissance painter Piero De Cosimo who lived form 1462-1522 and he finished the painting 1505. The basic story around the painting is a group of animals escaping a raging forests fire. What I liked about the painting is how chaotic it is with all the animals running and the trees and bushes moving with the wind. I used the number 7 because for me it has a lot of links to this painting - For example, I was 7 years old when I first saw a bonfire, which was a thrilling moment. There are 7 animals in the painting and this is also the amount of bonfires I’ve seen since.
I decided to paint the start of the fire because I felt it would be quite interesting to see the mix of the fire and smoke with the green nature that makes up the landscape of the painting. I then added the sky-blue background, and it makes a sort of gradient leading to the top where the red cloud is that the fire formed. I added some vines on the side to add to the nature in the foreground and then painted the basic shapes of the flame before adding detail to the fire. I finished it off by blending colours in the flame, adding red clouds in the sky and finally adding my number 7.
