This artwork was inspired by Orchestra painted by Koeh Sia Yong. He was born in Malaysia in 1945. His background is deeply rooted in cultural and artistic traditions in Malaysia. The orchestra painting really caught my attention. When I look at it, I see how every instrument and musician work together to create something amazing. It’s like each one is doing its own thing, but when you step back, you realize it all fits together perfectly. The way the colours blend and the way details are shown makes it feel like the music is alive, jumping off the canvas. It makes me think about how important teamwork is, like in an orchestra where everyone must play their part for the music to sound good. Even though each musician is doing their own thing, they’re all playing for the same goal, and that’s what makes it work. The painting seems to show that, even though things might look messy or complicated up close, everything comes together in the end to make something beautiful. It’s kind of like life - sometimes little moments or actions might not seem important, but when they add up, they create something bigger than you realize. The painting really shows that idea of unity, and how everything, no matter how small, plays a role in making something great. When I look at it, it feels like you can almost hear the music, and it reminds me of how everything, even the smallest detail does matter.
The reason why I chose 2030 was because I will be graduating in 2030. The bright and vibrant colours represent my joy in graduating. It also represents how I felt when painting this artwork. The handprints represent applause when you graduate, and your parents applauded you. The teardrops represent my joy after putting so much effort into studying and finally finishing school. I used a wet sponge to create texture for the background and I used a thick paintbrush to create the yellow wiggly line. I used my own hands to print my handprint onto the artwork.
