This painting is bold, full of energy and represents my love for rugby. At the center there is a thick yellow handprint stands out. The black shapes inside add intensity, while the white outline makes it stand out against the background. The hand is showing the number 5. The background is aggressive and chaotic, with reds, pinks, and blues splattered across the canvas. The blue number “5” repeats symbolizing me playing drums for 5 years and is also my position in rugby. The combination of sharp stencil shapes and messy brushstrokes shows how tough the game of rugby really is.
This piece represents my passion for rugby and other things in my life. The hand is the hand of my close friend, Jayden Qin. The thick layers and the messiness show just how dirty and messy rugby is. Drums are a very loud and chaotic instrument, and I think those two words were represented well in my painting. I have moved on from drums, but I still will always have a love for it. I am still playing rugby, and it is one of my favourite things in the world, it has made me more athletic, learn more things and I have picked up some friends along the way.
