My painting was inspired by a painting in the National Gallery Singapore called "Forest Fire" by Raden Saleh. He was a painter from Indonesia with an Arab - Javanese ethnicity. I was inspired by his painting because of the orange flames from the forest burning. The meaning behind the painting "Forest Fire" was the 'Relentless and tragic tale of life and death' shown by the animals getting chased away by the fire and that fire reminded me of the burnt trees the humans caused in Yosemite National Park I visited when I was 12. I imagined the mountains in flames in the National Park which inspired me to paint the mountain orange in the dark night. I wrote 12 on the painting which was when I visited the national park. I also painted stars in the sky which I saw in the park. The dark elements in the front are the valleys I saw which I decided to add to my painting. I named it Fire in The Night because of the burning mountain in the dark and normally peaceful night. The shooting star shows how much the park is surrounded by nature. I made the painting smaller because I wanted to show the details of the valleys and the fire and everything else.
