I have chosen the painting ‘Boschbrand’ or forest fire in old Dutch and you are looking at my abstract interpretation. I used the number 12 to symbolise the pairs of eyes caught and stuck on the cliffside which are going to die. The “1” that I used was to symbolise that you only have one life, the number 3 symbolises the amount of claw marks on the ox, this shows that the tigers are clinging on to the ox with their claws in pure desperation and that stood out to me. The 0 with a stripe through the middle is a ‘Theta’ which was the old Latin symbol for death. This is put opposite the giant twelve to symbolise that death is coming. The left side of the painting is very crowded whilst the right side is less crowded, the dots and shapes are the fire, the ‘1’s’ are the lives taken by the fire. I chose vibrant colours to show that there is life, and death in the fire.
