My piece of art has taken inspiration from Forest Fire. This huge oil painting shows wild animals at the edge of a cliff running away from a fire in terror. My artwork is based on 3 people in my family, specifically my Great Aunt, Aunt and Uncle. The number 2 is shown throughout my painting. This number means a lot to me because 2 people in my family have taken their own lives - my Great Aunt and Uncle. My Aunt has struggled with mental health… and that is what the wine glass in my painting represents. In general, this piece is about how I could have lost someone I love to something that I simply couldn't control. I see my piece of art as mature, but some might see it as rather raw and hard-hitting. Throughout this process of creating a painting, I got a feel for how much energy and emotion an artist must go through to make a deeply personal artwork.

The journey towards making this painting was mainly trial and error, along with lots of planning. For my composition I used poster paint, with black, greys and red. Some of the materials I used to create it included a fine paintbrush, staples, craft knife, fingerprints, handprints and sponges to blend and perfect the edges.
