My inspiration for this piece of work was Dancing mutants created by Hernando R. Ocampo in 1965. Hernando was born on the 28th of April in 1911 in Manila, Philippines and was 67 when he died on the 28th of December in 1978. Hernando originally studied law and creative writing and taught himself how to paint (mostly abstract pieces), leading him into his art career. I learnt that Hernando used the topic war to influence him in Dancing Mutants using a blood red colour to describe the horrors of war. I chose Hernando’s artwork Dancing Mutant as inspiration because it tells a story to the person looking at the painting, it shows them Hernando’s perspective to an atomic bomb.
For my artwork I am using the number 7 as it is considered a very lucky number in most religions. For my Artwork I decided the background to be red as the connotations of the colour is anger and aggression. I also chose to use my fingerprints on my painting to resemble smoke and to make my painting have a different texture and to link my painting to me even more. I also used cocktail sticks for patterns to make it like a grenade is exploding and debris if flying everywhere. My work shows that it is in the middle of a lot of action as there are a lot of things happening. My artwork links to me as my great grandfather was in WW2 and was part of the air force.
