My inspiration for this piece of work was the painting war and piece by Hendrix Gunawan. Hendrix was 26 when the Second World War broke out. Gunawan, a member, of the Lembaga Kebudajaan Rakyat, a cultural organization associated with the Indonesian Communist Party, was a revolutionary fighter in the 1940s. This piece makes references to the past. Using sinuous dark accents to outline the figures of two Indonesian revolutionary fighters, it is a study in cool blues and turquoise. The warrior dominates the canvas, and the fluid brushstrokes create an otherworldly atmosphere. In the distance, one can see a mountain, or gunung. While the other fighters' skin is a typical human color, one of the warriors has a blueish green appearance. Another frequently used tool in Indonesian art is the gunung.

For my painting I have used a range of blues, greens and purples to resemble the cool colour of the solider in the painting. There is also some oranges and reds to compliment the blues and make the painting more appealing. I have designed a mountain range with different shades of Green to make the background of the Indonesian war. The shades of oranges to create the feeling of enthusiasm and excitement. I used lots of greens to build a feeling of hope and responsibility as I imagine is what the solider feels going to war in Indonesia.
