My inspiration for my painting was war and peace my Hendra Gunawan (1950s). Hendra was an Indonesian painter best known for his combining of western painting techniques and traditional Indonesian aesthetics. The painting War and peace has a clear view of a mountain which is a blue colour and a fighter man with a gun sitting on top of a hill followed by what looks like the devil behind him. The main colours that Hendra used was blues, turquoise, tan, browns, and greys.

My painting has developed a lot since I started it. The materials I used for my painting were poster paints, cardboard, hot glue and textured paste, all these materials came together to make a 3D painting to represent a real-life figure.  For the base of my painting, I used mostly pink, red, orange, yellow and white. I used lots of colours because when I see paintings, I find the colourful ones most interesting, and they draw me in the most. After the base dried, I used texture paint to make a cloud in the corner of the painting and added lots of colours dripping down from it representing sun light. I created cardboard waves curving through the middle of my painting, and dividing my painting into 3 parts. I used the blue waves to represent the mountains that are in Hendra Gunawans painting, and the white splashes of texture paint as the clouds circling the mountains (waves).

I’ve made a hot glue 09 by tracing a paper with the number on and stuck it onto the side of my painting and used texture paint in the middle of my painting to make another 09 to represent an ocean because I filled in the 0 blue. Hendra Gunawans painting is very unique because he combined western and Indonesian painting styles together. I used hot glue and 3D figures to make my work more unique. I spend most of my time in the heat, so I decided to make my painting based on a summer and tried choosing colours and themes inspired by around the beach. The bottom right corner also has a mini pool which was made of texture paste and blue paint, and next to it was a very thin 09 which I used to represent the whitewash in the ocean and used bubble wraps to make a rocky/sandy effect under the waves.
