As soon as i saw Dancing Mutants i immediately thought about Remembrance Day. Remembrance Day is average big thing in England because in WW2 many British soldiers had died due to heavy gun fire and from their graves and corpses sprouted poppies, because of England intense rainfall and nutrient-rich soil poppies were common place on their battle field.
In addition the place i remember most on Remembrance Day was the memorial, in our town there was a very big stone monument that was on a field just next to the County Center.
In this painting it is compromise of 5 different elements. The black background, this is made with a piece of cardboard with 2 layers of black paint on the front this is perfect for Dancing Mutants and Remembrance Day because Dancing Mutants sports a black background and Remembrance Day because of the thick rainfall the ground would be almost fully black.
The flowy grass in my painting is very reminiscent of grass in the field in this reminded me a lot of Remembrance Day because when memorial service was over, we would get to play in the very long wet flowing grass.
The little poppies dotted around the painting. On Remembrance Day there were 2 main activities the memorial service and the poppy drive. The poppy drive was a charity fund where you would put 1 Pound to the box and you would get a little plastic poppy this was another way i linked my painting to Dancing Mutants.
The next addition to “From where we remember” is the number 11 made from poppies. This has significant because Remembrance Day is mourned on November 11 it being made of poppies has meaning i just thought it would look nice.
The final addition the huge poppy in the middle this is significant because in the memorial service the head teacher of the school would lay down a bunch of roses to commemorate the service. That is all of my inspiration from Remembrance Day.
