My artwork was inspired by Hernando R. Ocampo's dancing mutants created in 1965. Hernando was a Philippino painter who liked to surround himself with nature. Hernando was inspired to create this piece of art when he saw a movie of an atomic bomb being dropped, and the life around the drop site became one with nature. This is represented in the 3 figures Hernando depicts in this painting. In this painting he made use of hexagons that if you looked closely, you could see the lines were wavy and they were different shades of red like a fire like the hexagons have been mutated. All of the green wavy lines are used to depict either a part of a mutant or a whole mutant.

In my artwork I used a network of tape to mask aera's of my painting I then painted over the top and removed the tape to get a shattered effect that was in direct relation to the almost perfect hexagons in dancing mutants, the blue background is meant to be a representation of an ocean world with the tissue paper acting as the gate way. The streaks of yellow and white are coming from the sun and is trying to destroy this world by inflicting this virus you can see in the red shattered shapes; this sickness is represented by the black dots. The sun which was created by using texture paste that was then painted over with orange paint.

My entire painting forms the number 6 and the curve that the sun is attached to is the "arm" of the 6. The number six represents the age I was when I moved to Australia and how long we were there for, and it will probably be the length of time I will be here until we move back. The blue paper acts as the portal into this dying world.
