My inspiration for this piece of work was by Hernando R Ocampo in 1965.Hernando was born in 28th April 1911 in Manila Philippines and died 28th December 1978.He was a member of the Saturday Group Artists and his work was reflected on his country after WW2.
His work was known for his lush scenery’s and Philippino landscapes through using bold colours like red and orange. The green murky like sticks looked very similar to seaweed witch inspired me to do a painting based on the sea. What struck my eye the most was how the green and the orange bits of seaweed were intertwining with each other to create a beautiful colour.
Dancing Mutants is a very calm and relaxing painting with simple strokes made to look very complex. For my painting I used a spongy light blue for the sky and dark green turquoise for the waves. Beneath the waves I used a dark green sponge which was the similar colour to the painting. I also used bubble wrap and texture paste as rocks, sand and seaweed, it was based on what’s beneath the waves. And would give the same effect as the real painting did. My number 000 which looks like the infinity symbol, I chose it because it’s on my favourite shirt and is a lucky number meaning that something better is coming in your way.
