My inspiration for this piece was the painting Dancing Mutants by Hernando R. Ocampo, and it was created in 1965. Ocampo was an artist from the Philippines who was born in 1911 and died in 1978. Dancing Mutants was Hernando campo's reaction to the horrors of the atomic bombs, the shapes of red and green were influenced by the things he saw around him each day, "The flora and fauna of the Philippines."

The one thing I enjoyed most about this painting is that if you look at this artwork from a different perspective, you can see a human figure in the middle of this painting. The many patterns and strokes help the figure look like it is dancing and moving. For my artwork, I decided to use 3 different numbers. One of them was the number 6, I chose this number because I knew this artwork was about the artists feelings towards atomic bombs. The number 6 symbolises the date 6th august 1945 which was when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.

I also chose the number 1965 because that was when this artwork was made, but I decided to write it out with some Chinese characters (1 t 6 #) so it would look a bit more unique and not so simple. My last number was 0, so symbolise the term ground O. Ground zero is used to describe the site of a violent or dramatic event, so for this artwork ground zero was where the Hiroshima bomb was dropped.

For my composition, I chose to use the green strokes that you see in Dancing mutants, and have them come out from below the painting and overlap the 6. I have also decided to have a stencil In the shape of the site where the atomic bomb in Hiroshima was exactly dropped. I have used some similar colours to this painting so there is some resemblance. I decided used a sponge to create my background so that it gives it more of an ancient look, as well as that I used sponged to create squares in different shades of red. I think my shapes were heavily influenced by the shapes that were in original art piece.
